Chemical Diversity Research Institute (CDRI) along with ChemDiv, Inc. and Moscow Region Government's support has announced the launch of an initiative for preclinical development of a new generation of drugs for tuberculosis treatment. CDRI endeavors to achieve its goals by the application of the latest advances in microorganism genetics, combinatorial and medicinal chemistry, and high-throughput biological screening.

The International conference devoted to the issues of pharmacologically valuable biotargets will be organized under the aegis of the International Science and Technology Center on March 28-30, 2006, in Khimki, Moscow Region. The intensive finding and research of new biotargets is one of the critical phenomena of "post-genome era". The advances in decoding human genome, as well as genomes of pathogenic microorganisms offer great opportunities for discovery of new therapeutical agents to cure many dangerous diseases. Currently, the traditional methods of elucidating physiologically active substances can not effectively meet the requirements of modern research programs based on the analyses of a significant number of biotargets, low-molecular modulators and their functions. Most likely, the assimilation of new technologies can fully realize the discovery potential in genomics.
